Routes into Teaching

There are numerous routes into teaching for trainees with and without degrees. 

Undergraduate tuition fee

Teacher Degree Apprenticeship where the trainee is employed by a school at unqualified rate and training is paid for by the levy, or levy transfer from the local authority.

Post Graduate tuition fee route which may have an additional academic award – PGCE in addition to QTS for those who have a degree.

Post Graduate Teacher Apprenticeship where the trainee is employed by a school at unqualified rate and training is paid for by the levy, or levy transfer from the local authority.

Assessment Only (there is no training for this route) for those who have a first degree and have been planning, teaching and assessing as an unqualified class teacher for two years.
