School Leader Bulletin | January 2024

Welcome back and happy new year.

This bulletin covers some key updates for school leaders around NPQ recruitment, ECF registration and ITT opportunities.

1. Last chance to register for a funded NPQ

You and your teachers may benefit from evidence-informed professional development with our strategic partner, Ambition Institute. 
 
The February 2024 cohorts of the National Professional Qualifications (NPQs) are currently the last to be fully funded by the Department for Education.

There are nine NPQs now available, including four leadership NPQs and five specialist NPQ courses for you and your teachers to choose from, including the NEW NPQ for Leading Primary Maths.

The application deadline is Tuesday 16 January 2024.

2. ECF | January new starters

If a new Early Career Teacher is joining you this term, please ensure you contact the team ASAP and to register your ECT and mentor in the following three places:

  1. The Hub
  2. The DfE
  3. An Appropriate Body

If you have any mentor or induction lead changes, please email ecf@northantstshub.org at your earliest convenience.

Spring Induction Dates

For new ECTs, mentors and induction leads the Spring Induction dates are below. Book their place by emailing ecf@northantsTSHub.org

  • New ECF Lead induction | Tuesday 16 January, 
    3:45 - 4:45pm (Zoom)
  • New ECT Induction | Wednesday 17 January 
    (Y1 9:00 - 12:30pm / Y2 1:00 - 4:30pm) 
  • New mentor induction | Thursday 18 January 
    (Y1 9:00 - 12:30pm / Y2 1:00 - 4:30pm) 

3. Become a SCITT partner school

We are inviting schools in our community to become an ITT partner school, growing future teachers in your community. Working in partnership with Teach First, our high quality programme builds added capacity to schools and shapes brilliant teachers. Building your recruitment and giving your pupils fantastic teachers!

4. Leadership NPQ results

Our Spring 22 Leadership NPQ cohorts for Senior Leaders and Headship secured 100% pass rate. Well done everyone: we're proud to be growing leader expertise across Northamptonshire.
